Mark Piacentini began his career in emergency services as a paramedic before transitioning to the fire service, where he built a distinguished 30-plus-year career that culminated in his retirement as Assistant Chief of the Folsom Fire Department. Over the course of his career he served in every rank from firefighter to chief officer, earning a reputation as a tireless advocate for the health and wellbeing of the people who serve alongside him. One of Mark's most enduring contributions to Folsom Fire is the department's Peer Support Team, which he helped establish to give firefighters a trusted, confidential resource for navigating the emotional weight of the job. That same commitment to mental health led him to champion the Paw Platoon Placement program from its earliest days and to partner with Blitz — the program's very first placed dog. Since retiring from active service, Mark has continued to give back to the fire service community as an instructor, sharing his experience and leadership with the next generation of firefighters. He remains active with Hearts 4 Heroes USA as Vice President, helping guide the organization's peer support mission across departments and states.
